Statistically speaking, Israel is one of the safest tourist destinations on earth.
The U.S. State Department currently encourages travelers to reconsider travel to Israel — a Level 3 advisory. When it reaches Level 4 (“Do Not Travel”), commercial airlines stop flying. Israel is rarely anything other than a Level 3. While some domestic airlines have suspended flights to TLV, Lufthansa is presently flying into Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.
Because Israel is such a special piece of real estate, it is not abnormal for a flare-up to raise concerns… and then quickly dissipate.
Today it is safe to tour Israel
Pilgrims are currently enjoying a rare opportunity: the chance to experience the biblical and historical sites with very few other visitors. The crowds that normally fill the Western Wall plaza, the Garden Tomb, Capernaum, and the shores of Galilee are largely absent.
Now certainly, the current conflict in the Middle East is one for the history books.
But one thing is for sure…
I am going to Jerusalem.
I hope to visit February 2–11, 2027.
But it is possible that I will have to wait until the New Jerusalem
(see Revelation 21:2)
Until then… we watch, we pray, and we keep our hearts turned toward the City of the Great King.
